A true lady of renaissance, Franky Ramont became immersed in storytelling many years ago and passionately perfoms a wide variety of genres--from children's literature (comedy and classic folktales) to creative and improvised stories for audiences of all ages. On the theatrical stage, her credits include performance in autobiographical shows based on actual experiences, and "Live Love Experience" and Eve Ensler's "Vagina's Monologues" based on womens' experiences throughout the world. In addition, she has performed one-woman shows with artistic genres such as lyrics, poetry, and comedy. She has directed children's theatre performances with DeafACT (Deaf America's Children's Theatre) including "Peter Pan" and "Couch Potato Santa." She is currently the Producer for DeafACT in Austin, Texas. On film, she portrayed an abused wife in "Anywhere to Anyone" with Deaf Abused Women and Children Advocacy Services as well as "Unfinished Business" with Blue River Films Productions. A passionate filmmaker, Franky has also teamed with organizations to produce DVDs as a way to fundraise for their local causes. In the professional scholarly realm, Franky has been an American Sign Language Lecturer at the University of Texas since 2000. She graduated with a M.A. in Deaf Education with a minor as a Reading Specialist in 1997. She has taught American Sign Language as a foreign language and as a part of Interpreter Training Programs at seven different Universities since 1994. She has provided various presentations for Professional and Educational Interpreters, Certified/Working Deaf Interpreters, and hearing people about Deaf Culture, ASL Storytelling, Lingusitics of ASL, Strong Language, Health Education, Medical Conditions, ASL Lyrics, and other topics related to the teaching deaf/hard of hearing children.
